TRANScenDANCE is an innovative European initiative aimed at promoting the inclusion of transgender and non-binary individuals in cultural spaces, whether they are professionals or amateurs.
A Project Committed to Inclusion and Diversity
TRANScenDANCE addresses the unique challenges faced by transgender and non-binary people on two levels:
- Personal: During the transition period, often marked by emotional and physical challenges.
- Social: In confronting the discrimination they may encounter within society.
The Transformative Power of Dance and Movement
The project harnesses the power of dance and movement to encourage body acceptance, self-expression, and emotional well-being. By training educators and facilitators in inclusive practices, TRANScenDANCE creates safe and supportive spaces where transgender individuals can thrive and fully participate in the performing arts.
Alignment with the EU LGBTIQ Equality Strategy 2020–2025
TRANScenDANCE aligns with the European Union’s LGBTIQ Equality Strategy 2020–2025, which emphasizes combating discrimination and promoting inclusion for LGBTIQ individuals.
The project aims to break down barriers, fight discrimination, and celebrate the richness of diversity by ensuring that cultural spaces are inclusive and representative of all identities.
A Collaborative European Project
The project, funded by the European ERASMUS+ program, is coordinated by Cie Essevesse and implemented in partnership with:
- NEXUS (Italy) – a dance company in Bologna
- BAZAART (Serbia) – a cultural and artistic association in Belgrade
- GAMMA GENESIS (Romania) – a systemic psychology center in Iași
- LA JOVEN (Spain) – a theater company in Madrid
Fabio and Antonino are supported by the Marseille-based association TRANSAT.
This project highlights Cie Essevesse’s commitment to an inclusive and accessible culture, where everyone can find their place and fully express themselves through the arts.
