Starting on January 26, 2026, Compagnie Essevesse launches CAP DISCRI!, an artistic and educational project for schools in Marseille that places dance at the heart of discrimination prevention, stress management, and living together.
Designed as a series of dance workshops, CAP DISCRI! is aimed at nursery and primary school pupils, offering them safe spaces for expression, creation and dialogue through movement.
An Artistic Pathway Serving Education and Well-being
Running throughout January, February, March and April 2026, the project will support pupils from four schools in Marseille:
École de la Cabucelle
École Saint-Barnabé
École des Accoules
École Sainte-Charles II
Through age-appropriate workshops, the artists of Compagnie Essevesse invite children to explore their bodies, emotions and relationships with others, while developing listening skills, cooperation and mutual respect.
Dance as a Universal Language
In CAP DISCRI!, dance becomes a fully-fledged educational tool. Free from imposed words, it allows children to express their inner experiences, recognise their emotions, manage stress and explore relationships with others in a different way.
The workshops encourage:
body awareness and self-esteem
emotional regulation
prevention of bullying and discrimination
cooperation and respect for differences
Because movement is a universal language, accessible to everyone, dance fosters inclusion and celebrates the diversity of bodies, rhythms and sensitivities.
A Partnership-Based Project at the Heart of Public Policy
CAP DISCRI! is carried out in partnership with the City of Marseille, as part of the city’s policy for the prevention of and fight against discrimination.
The project fully aligns with an approach to arts and cultural education that is attentive to children’s well-being, the quality of the school environment and the development of respectful relationships from an early age.
Learning to Respect, Listen and Cooperate
With CAP DISCRI!, Compagnie Essevesse reaffirms a strong belief:
to dance is also to learn how to respect oneself, listen to others and cooperate.
By providing children with sensitive and creative tools for living together, the project helps build more open, calm and inclusive school environments.
