If the mirror could speak, do you think it would accept me?
Duration: 25 minutes
The first dance piece for young audiences by Cie Essevesse.
Inspired by a poignant question asked by a young participant during awareness workshops against bullying, this choreographic piece offers a poetic and embodied reflection on this complex and often silent phenomenon.
Conceived by Antonino Ceresia and performed by Fabio Dolce and Greta Sandon, this danced duo gives form to the four typical roles involved in a bullying situation: the bully, the bullied, the passive bystander, and the active bystander.
The choreographic writing, both expressive and taut, leads the performers through an intense physical journey, to the point of exhaustion. Through repetition, confrontation, withdrawal, but also collective momentum, the bodies express what words leave unspoken: the muted violence, but also the possibility of mutual support, transformation, and resilience.
Gradually, the stage space opens up like a territory of negotiation, a place of acceptance of oneself and of others. Dance becomes a mirror — sometimes distorted, sometimes revealing — in which young people can see themselves, question, and begin a process of personal transformation.
